From Toys to Treats: Grimsby and Cleethorpes Gift Guides for Kids and Pets

“Never work with kids or pets” …that’s the old saying isn’t it? Well, I say boo to that because I’m working with them both in today’s Christmas Gift Guide and I don’t care!!

Joking aside, I am really excited to announce the first of the Grimsby and Cleethorpes Gift Guides for 2021, which is of course Gifts for Kids and Pets. You might wonder why I’ve decided to merge together the Kids and Pets, but let’s be honest, pets are our kids aren’t they? So it just felt right to pull the two together.

I don’t have kids or pets, so on a personal level, I find it a nightmare buying gifts for my niece (aged 3) and my honourary nieces (aged 3 and almost 1), because I don’t have that personal insight of what they’re interested in or even what they do and don’t have. And because I am incredibly keen to support local, it’s great to see so many smaller businesses offer some really creative gifts for children and fluffy children. So, here are a few suggestions from independent businesses, all of which are based in Grimsby, Cleethorpes and/or surrounding areas:

BabaRoo Boxes

BabaRoo was recently shortlisted as a Sole Thriver at the 2021 Great Big Small Awards, and for the right reasons. Lorna’s Self Care boxes are the perfect gift for anyone and not just grown-ups, I think they are perfect for little minds too, because it is so important to remember their mental health, just as much as it is our own. I say this as someone who bought myself a box for my Lockdown birthday in 2020. If you love the trend for Christmas Eve boxes as much as I do, then BabaRoo has one for you. There are muslin cloths for the babas, unicorn pillows and hair grips for the slightly older ones and so much more.

Craft Indulgence by Julia

Craft Indulgence by Julia is the place to go if you’re looking for a traditional hand-painted gift for little ones. Julia offers a range of peg dolls, story stones and decorations that are UKCA tested*, giving you the confidence to buy safe toys for nieces, nephews etc.

Four Paws Bakery is the first pet-based business on our list, and one that Lily our family Labradoodle absolutely recommends! She had a Four Paws Bakery Cupcake from Just Good Cake, on Wellowgate a couple of months back and she loved it!

All pet treats are made from fresh ingredients and are doggo-approved!
