Local Artist Spotlight: The House with the Blue Door Showcases Art as a Tool for Mental Health

  • by

Sarah of The House With The Blue Door Cleethorpes is a watercolour and ink artist with a distinctive style, documenting what’s special about Grimsby, Cleethorpes and Lincolnshire. She runs art and wellbeing workshops from the Humberston Fitties Chalet that she also hires out.

I’ve been following Sarah for some time now, so I am over the moon that she has decided to join Made in Grimsby and I get to rave out how amazing her work is. For a long time, I couldn’t tell you why I love her work so much, but after seeing a piece she had done of the Central Hall in Grimsby recent, I realised that it is that distinctive style she mentioned in her introduction. It is very reminiscent of the scratchy style of Quentin Blake, who I think a lot us grow up with as the illustrator of Roald Dahl books (and more recently David Walliams’ books too).

What does Sarah’s work look like?

I am so glad you asked, because if Quentin Blake isn’t enough of a hint for you, here are some of her pieces for you to marvel at…
