The Ultimate Guide to Buying Lip Balm in Grimsby and Cleethorpes

  • by

I love Lip Balm. To say I’m addicted to it probably wouldn’t be too much of an exaggeration, because I definitely am. As you can imagine, I typically swear by the common high street brands such as Burts Bees and Dr Paw Paw. I have tried handmade alternatives from farmers market in the past, however from past experience handmade lip balms have never been great. They tended to be too greasy, too scented (verging on nauseatingly scented) and didn’t have very long shelf lives.

With the rise of local soap and beauty product makers, I decided that now was the right time to have another look at lip balms and I wanted to share with you four businesses based in North East Lincolnshire, who are all blowing it out of the water with their lip balms.

For clarity, I have purchased lip balms from all of the below-mentioned local businesses, however, this isn’t a review, instead, this blog post is intended as an information piece so you know where to go for your lip balms if – like me – you are keen to try some locally produced alternatives to the better-known ones…

The Soap Shack

Soap Shack Naked Lips Lip Balm

Price: £3.00 each

Flavours:

  • Naked Lips (Honey and Beeswax with Sweet Almond Oil)*
  • Kissable Lips (Sweet Orange and Apricot Oil with Vitamin E)*

Soap Shack’s lip balms are the only one to come in rectangular containers, with a sliding lid that is really easy to open.

The only thing I will say is if we have a cold snap, to try and store them in a warm place. I’ve noticed that when they get really cold, they can get hard which makes them difficult to use. Luckily, we don’t get that cold very often 🙂

Where To Buy: Soap Shack products are available from various vendors across Grimsby and Cleethorpes:

  • The Soap Shack Shop (Meridian Craft Shops, Cleethorpes)
  • Arttopia (Grant Street, Cleethorpes)
  • It Started With a Stitch (Abbeygate, Grimsby)
  • Riverhead Deli (Victoria Street, Grimsby)

Tuesday 11am – 3pm

Wednesday CLOSED

Stellaire Apothecary

Comfort Court Stellar Apothecary Lip Balm Immingham

  • Enchanted (Peppermint)
  • The Potion (Vanilla)
  • Sun Sprite (Mandarin)*
  • Dreamer (Coconut)
  • Comfort Court (Berry)*

Where to Buy: You can purchase from the Stellaire Apothecary website.

The only thing I haven’t been able to find from local lip balm sellers is one that you apply directly onto your lips. It’s a very small thing, but when you’re a gal with longer nails, sometimes I do prefer lipstick-style balms.

So businesses, if you want to add to your ranges; I’m on the lookout for lipstick style lip balms haha!!

All images were taken by me, except the Stellaire Apothecary which belongs to Stellaire, because I misplaced the ones I bought! I am an absolute nightmare for losing my lip balms, hence why I probably have 20 lip balms spread around my house, bags, pockets haha!

  1. Thanks so much for purchasing and enjoying my lip balm. A little tip – it’s the wax (beeswax in the “Naked” and Candelilla (Vegan) in the others) that can harden in cold weather – holding your thumb on the balm for a few seconds should warm up the wax, hard oils and butters slightly and make it easy to use. This does mean they don’t melt as easily in warmer weather too . I also have the range available in Sensual Lips (Rose Geranium) Healthy Lips (Eucalyptus and Hemp Oil) which also doubles as a nose balm when you have a cold and Fuller Lips (plumping oils of Peppermint and coconut)
