Learn more about Kat Musselwhite.

Hi there, I am the founder, the graphic designer, the order packer, the directory updater, the social media sharing shy girl who created Made in Grimsby to giver her something to do during the first lockdown of 2020.

Professionally, I am a Marketeer, with a degree in Creative Writing and Film Studies and 10+ years experiences writing SEO-friendly content for websites, running social media accounts and basically pretending I know what the heck I’m doing…but then, aren’t we all?

I have left Grimsby several times for university, jobs etc, however as one of my greeting cards states “you can take the girl out of Grimsby, but you can’t take Grimsby out of the girl” and I have found myself back here and refusing to see the negativity that is often spouted – often unfairly – about our town.

My goal for Made in Grimsby has always been to help bridge the gap between businesses and customers, but it has also naturally grown into a place of positivity. I don’t have time for negativity, so if you’re looking for a place to spout vitriol about Grimsby, you have come to the wrong place.

However, don’t be misguided into thinking that my positivity makes me naive to the neglect of Grimsby and Cleethorpes. I am here to be the voice of small businesses and if I believe that we are being treated unfairly, I will say it and I will write open letters when necessary (we are paying attention, politicians).

Kat Musselwhite Q & A

What’s the best thing about living in Grimsby?

So many things:

  • Our incredibly rich history.
  • The amount of small businesses.
  • The talent of local artists etc.
  • How close we are to the beach.
  • If you’ve ever witnessed a Cleethorpes sunrise, you’ll know 😉

Do you really believe Grimsby is that great?

I really do. It hasn’t always been that way, but I honestly believe a town is made great by the people in it, and I have seen and met so many people who are trying to make Grimsby a better place for us all.
If we all pull together, Grimsby will achieve its full potential and be Great again.

Are you Made in Grimsby or Made in Cleethorpes?

Interestingly, I consider myself to be both. Not because they’re essentially the same place. (which they are), but because I was officially born in Cleethorpes, however I have spent most of my life living in Grimsby.
